Caviar Farm Tour
One of the most important factors in ensuring top quality caviar is the methods used in farming. Principally having river systems that provide fresh water from the currents that run through the pens; feeding the fish a specific diet and ensuring that they are comfortable and healthy.
We thought of showing some short clips and pictures of a caviar farm we visited to give an idea around the process involved.
The fingerlings are kept in specific tanks and fed a specific diet while having a constant flow of fresh water into the tank (see below).
For the larger fish, the tanks are kept outsides channelling water from the rivers mimicking the exact some conditions found in the wild (see below).
In the final stages the fish are moved to a large tank with high powered pumps and clean water. This helps clean the caviar removing any impurities from the fish beds.
